Our history

This project started in 2016, when three professionals from Education area (Kindergarten Educators and Primary Teachers) started to observe on their professional contexts, that “traditional education” was not answering to the needs of their groups of children. Some of them showed lack of motivation, inappropriate behavior, agitation, lack of concentration and frustration.

They started looking for other forms of teaching, coming across different educational methods, including Montessori, Waldorf, Pikler and Reggio Emilia. With motherhood, this need took on another dimension that became an even greater impulse to contribute to a change in education in Portugal. They started then, a path of various trainings and national and international workshops, dedicating their study mainly to the Montessori Method, with which they identified themselves.

With the creation of Projeto Amanhecer, the intention was to bring to the educational community new ways of seeing “the child” through meetings and workshops with parents and professionals; and, working directly with children, promoting an environment rich in stimuli and suited to the needs of each one, where the child is the main actor in his educational process.

In 2021, Association Montessori of Setúbal was born, with the objective of continuing the work started with Projeto Amanhecer and also moving forward with the creation of an educational space for children and adults.
